A college preparatory coeducational boarding and day school for students ages 13-18 with learning differences. Highly individualized education promotes students' academic performance, emotional intelligence, and fosters a lifelong love of learning.

Traditionally, the Middlebridge student presents with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or written expression, attentional diagnoses such as ADD/ADHD, Executive Dysfunction, and/or school related anxiety.

 The Bement School, founded in 1925 and located in historic Deerfield, Massachusetts, is a co-educational junior boarding and day school serving 225 students in grades kindergarten through grade 9.  The school is set in a small 18th century New England village.  New England hosts a diverse and prestigious grouping of secondary schools, long known for their excellence in education, athletics, and preparing young men and women for success in higher education and in life.  We are within walking distance of Deerfield Academy which allows us access and use of their athletic facilities.  Within a 20 minute drive, there are college towns serving five colleges including Amherst College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts.  The Pioneer Valley is known for its scenery and as a vacation destination. The Holyoke Range, Mount Tom Range, and numerous rolling hills, bluffs, and meadows surround New England's longest and largest river, the Connecticut River, which flows through the region. We are two hours west of Boston and three hours north of New York City.

Parents who are looking to meet their children’s needs are the ones who seek a junior boarding school.  Those needs may be about increased academic challenge, a more diverse student body, or more attentive teachers.  Parents are delighted to find Bement’s small classes and warm, cozy dorms which plan age-appropriate activities for young adolescents.  They often have children who will appreciate closely proctored evening study halls with teachers and library facilities close at hand.  Sometimes parents seek the change in family dynamics when an “only” child now has a handful of dorm mates who become surrogate siblings, while others enjoy allowing the oldest in a large family to test the waters of independence in a very safe setting. Many see a junior boarding school as strong preparation for secondary school. Those who send their children to junior boarding schools are not negligent, disinterested parents whose lives have no room for family life.  They have simply done their due diligence in looking honestly for the settings in which their children can maximize their potential. Bement exists for bright, well-rounded kids who are ready to spend the academic year living away from home.

We take extraordinary care of our students, as they learn in the classrooms, compete on the fields, and perform on the stage. We are more than a school…we are a campus, a community.  Students live in eco-friendly dorms of 10 students with dorm parents who commit themselves to closely monitoring each boarder's personal as well as academic growth.
